Total Recall

Even after all these nights of watching Arnold, I still believe him in every role he has played. I have never felt like "oh shit, here we go watching the same movie we just saw." Each movie has different textures, plots, landscapes... watching these movies has been entertaining.

Last night was round TWELVE of 'TWO WEEKS WITH ARNOLD'. An adventure to watch, explore, and review 14 Schwarzenegger movies in 14 nights; and to document my feelings toward Arnold during the course of this clinical evaluation.

Two Weeks With Arnold Night 12
Total Recall (1990)

I was a 10 year old boy living in House, NM (population 85) when Total Recall hit the big screen. How could I have known then that this futuristic memory implant movie would forever sit upon my shelf of greats.

2084. Mars. Aliens, prostitutes, radiation mutated freaks, civil war, sub machine guns, outer space, killing, women, mine shafts, implanted homing devices torn out of glowing stretched nostrils, video phones, interactive holograms.

I watched Total Recall many times on my VHS player as a kid, I loved it then and I still love it now. More than any other Schwarzenegger movie this one has a special place in my heart...

When I listen to the news sometimes I flash back to Total Recall and I feel like I'm living the future. I'm most fascinated with TR's prediction of the future, forecasting 2084 from 1990. Video phones, holograms, full body xray machines in air ports... all these things were fantastic fictional ideas in 1990, they're in use realities in 2010. We're living the future.

Simeon gives it 5 stars.
