A couple years ago when we had Netflix, I was obsessed with this movie, The King of Kong, A Fistful of Quarters. I watched it probably 40 times. Everyday I looked forward to loading it up via our Wii connection, sinking into the coach, and relaxing. Pure bliss and enjoyment. Everyday I relished the time warp back to the 1980's; the sound of the CHING-CHING-CHING echoing through the arcade rooms.
The King of Kong is a real, raw, journey into the underground geeky world of video arcade gaming. It spotlights two men as they strive to become (and become) the best player to ever play Donkey Kong. I guess deep down in my heart, I am a geeky socially awkward nerd. I feel such a connection to these guys; a kinship. It's very interesting to watch these men obsess almost in autistic like ways.
My father, Tom Hendrix, is attempting to break the world record in Tetris, so it seems like a fitting time in my life to reflect on The King of Kong!
